Compliments Kimpton Hotels
Located in the historic Logan Circle neighborhood, Hotel Helix is another creative adaptation of the Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group. Built in 1968 as an apartment complex, the building is now a pop-art retro sensation celebrating all that is mid-century. Converted to a hotel decades ago, and transferring ownership over the years amongst various hotel chains and companies, the building is now a thriving boutique hotel. Of great interest are the hotel's "Specialty Rooms," which, as evidenced by their layout, were originally studio apartments. Rooms feature a 'standard' room area, and then a smaller, connected nook - originally the kitchen. Everything, save the original structure of the building, which remained intact and adaptable, has been upgraded and redesigned. The Kimpton Hotel and Restaurant Group reopened the property as the Hotel Helix in November 2002.
