Event Overview
The DC Preservation League, in partnership with the DC Historic Preservation Office, is proud to sponsor DC Modern: Washington INSIDE, a three-day program of events designed to identify and highlight Washington’s significant mid-20th-century interiors.

Washington INSIDE continues the success of DC Modern, a two-day symposium held in January 2006 that focused on developing a greater understanding of the city’s mid-century building inventory, the significant individuals and forces that shaped the era, and current efforts to document significant resources as they approach the 50-year threshold for potential listing in the National Register of Historic Places.

Washington INSIDE will examine how modern design principles were expressed on building exteriors, integrated into floor plans, and influenced building function and patterns of occupancy. The program will also explore the role of personal taste in the development of residential projects and the role of furnishings and features designed to enhance modern interiors.

Please join us for a weekend of Washington INSIDE events including a rare opportunity to view the I.M. Pei-designed Slayton House in Cleveland Park on Friday the 19th, a lecture and tour program on Saturday the 20th, and a Brunch hosted by Design Within Reach/Georgetown on Sunday the 21st.

REGISTER NOW AS PARTICIPATION AT ALL EVENTS IS LIMITED.
