Anacostia has been on the League's list since the program began in 1996 and
remains on the DCPL list because it continues to decline despite the
efforts of community and civic organizations. It was listed on the DC
Inventory of Historic Sites in 1973 and on the National Register of
Historic Places in 1978. Anacostia contains a number of vacant and critically
deteriorated buildings that threaten the integrity of the historic district
as well as impede revitalization of the community.Home | About
