DCPL Receives Two Grants for St. Elizabeths Historic District Brochure
DCPL has received two grants totaling $15,000 from the DC Historic Preservation Office and the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Dorothea de Schweinitz Fund for Washington, DC to produce a historic district brochure for the St. Elizabeths Hospital campus. This National Historic Landmark is divided into two parcels, the west campus is the site for the consolidation of the Department of Homeland Security and the east campus is owned by the District government. Brochure completion is anticipated for fall 2010.
Corcoran Rooftop Tour
On December 12th, DCPL business member The Christman Company hosted a tour of the monumental skylight and roof project work at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, a 1897 Beaux Arts building designed by noted American architect Ernest Flagg. The original leaking skylights are being replaced with new insulated glass that will reduce the solar load of the galleries by 60%.
