Fall 2001 Langston Terrace Hosts Most Endangered Kick-Off
With the help of DC at-Large Concilmember Phil Mendelson, the DC Preservation League announced its Most Endangered Places list for 2001 at the historic Langston Terrace Dwellings in Northeast. The announcement coincided with Langston Day, a community celebration held each July in the main courtyard of the dwellings. As part of the celebration, Janice McCree, President of the Residents Council, presented Mendelson with a certificate of commendation for his advocacy on behalf of Langston residents. After the presentation, Jerry Maronek led attendees on a tour of the dwellings, which appear this year for the first time on the Most Endangered Places list. In October, the dwellings were featured at the Conference on Washington, DC, Historical Studies at George Washington University. View the The Most Endangered Places list for 2001. PREVIOUS | NEXT |
