Members Only – Tour of Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument
May 18 @ 11:00 am - 12:15 pm
Join the DC Preservation League on May 18th for a members-only tour of the Belmont-Paul Women’s Equality National Monument.
100 years ago this May, the US House of Representatives approved the amendment granting women the right to vote. The 19th Amendment was passed by the US Senate in June, and officially ratified in August 1920.
The Belmont-Paul House was built in 1820 by Robert Sewall and was sold to the National Woman’s Party for use as its headquarters in 1929. As the epicenter of the struggle for women’s rights, the site was designated a national monument on April 12, 2016.
The national monument is a unit of the National Park Service’s National Mall and Memorial Parks.
This tour of the historic house museum will highlight the preservation work recently carried out, including on its stained glass windows.
